In their book „Strategic execution: Driving Breakthrough Performance in Business“ Carrig & Snell describe very aptly how organizations get from beautiful PowerPoint slides to actually implementing the strategy. Since organizations are complex, Carrig & Snell say that strategy implementation involves much more than project management. By analyzing dozens of successful companies, they have identified four categories in which organizations need to build excellence if they are to successfully implement their strategies (see chart below).
